BIRDS OF THE BUSH FESTIVAL

 

This is our 10th Anniversary!!!!! 

We are working on many special events to celebrate this wonderful achievement for all ages…

 

Friday 7th October……

Local identity “Wally” will do an enjoyable and historic walk around the town from                        3pm to 6pm – FREE!      (Bookings to Andrea)

Champagne Opening 

6pm to 8pm - Prizes awarded at 7pm

Over 18 $10 (includes nibbles  & 2 complimentary drinks) Under 18 $5

Casual BBQ dinner available from 8pm. $10 adult and secondary, $5 primary school

………BAR WILL BE OPERATING UNTIL 10PM ONLY…….. (BYO after 10pm)

(Please remember there are no ATM facilities or availability to buy alcohol in our town)

Special Guest -  Tim Low will speak from 8.30pm

Tim Low is a zoologist, biologist and best-selling author of seven books about nature and conservation. Feral Future, a book about weeds and pests, inspired the formation of a conservation group.     His most recent book, Where Song Began: Australia’s Birds and How They Changed the World, became the first nature book ever to win the Australian Book Industry Award for best general non-fiction. Feral Future inspired the formation of an NGO, the Invasive Species Council, which Tim represented at the 18th Global Biodiversity Forum in Mexico. Tim has served on the Australian environment minister’s advisory committee, writes a blog for Australian Geographic magazine, and works as a guide each year on the Christmas Island Bird’n’Nature Week. (As a teenager he discovered a new lizard species, one of which was named after him!)

From 12 noon until 8pm      BYO alcohol, picnic rug & chair Nibble baskets will be available to purchase

Entry cost: 18yrs & over $20, Under 18 to Kinder $15 & Under 5 $5 

Children’s Entertainment....

Includes all day access to jumping castle, face painting, laser tag, Lions train & other children’s activities

All local businesses have EFTPOS facilities with limited cash withdrawal.    

There are no ATMs in Rankins Springs and 
 Our local Hotel is no longer operating
and we are unsure about our Motel at the moment....so watch this space for updates on accommodation within our town.
